Reflections On The Failure of Socialism









This book was originally published in 1955 and sold for 75
cents. It is a collector's item now and can be found selling from $23 - $150 on various websites. It is an interesting commentary written from the author's perspective as he pivots from his hardcore fervor for a global, socialistic ideology to the realization of the ultimate, proven failure of such idealism. I found this book to be a basic explanation of our world today in 2020, some 65 years later. His arguments and reasoning still apply. His words of wisdom, borne of self-experience, soberly taps the shoulder of any liberty-minded patriot, evoking self-conscious examination of our own personal responsibility in maintaining the precious freedoms we so casually enjoy.

The author, Max Eastman, a US citizen, delves into his dreams of a utopian, socialistic community. He lived the lofty principles he hoped would provide the foundation of a common society based on socialism. He writes of his decision to support, and then live, in the aftermath of the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. He was present for the hopeful adoption of the Marx – Engles philosophies, then the Nazi German occupation, and Chinese Revolution, after which he was driven to sadly conclude that these styles of governments 'work only if under a dictator'.

Mr Eastman's greatest surprise was the apathy his peers showed when confronted with the idealism of communism against the actual harsh reality of its implementation. He writes, (p 57): “I still think the worst enemy of human hope is not the brute facts, but men of brains who will not face them. … I never dreamed, however, that they could sink to the depths of maudlin self-deception and perfectly abject treason of truth, freedom, justice, and mercy that many of them have reached in regard to the Russian debacle. That has indeed profoundly, and more than any other shock, whether emotional or intellectual, disabused me of the dream of liberty under a socialist state.”

He further explains the clever manipulation of language used to veil the atrocities he witnessed. For instance, (p69): “The term 'working class' was detached from the actual workers and attached to party believers in the Marxian theory about what the workers were going to do. This innocent-looking maneuver set the style for such etymological atrocities as calling it 'liberation' when the Red Army marches in and arrests, jails, rapes, deports, or shoots 50 percent of a nation's population, and pinning upon the resulting perfect tyranny the name of the “People's Democracy”.


This is a revealing read that provides many uncomfortable parallels to our current 2020 political climate. The devolvement of the duty of our own American government from being 'for the people' into what has become the controlling of the people is proven through endless, unelected bureaucracies who write legislation empowering them to actually jail its citizenry. For instance, the Internal Revenue Service, Environmental Protection Agency, or even the Child's Protection Service where children are forcibly removed from their parental homes, are rarely questioned and work without oversight. The cost of the socialist/communist ideology, the death toll and misery it brings, becomes all to clear in this brief 127-page book. It is an unofficial plea to the American Public.

2020 Candidates -- Could They Have Dirty Laundry?


Profiles in Corruption – Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite

 FACT: Peter Schweizer’s book details the case that supports the title of his newest release. Out today, January 22, 2020, the book ends up with 90 pages of notes with resource sites to establish veracity of the authors findings on your own. In the coming days watch for commentary detailing some of the more interesting details.

OPINION: As this site is predicated on ‘News & Events Impacting Your Individual Liberties’ [libertypolepost.com – Title Description] a review of this and other books is relevant as to how our individual liberties are being impacted by the electoral process. In this case, by way of vetting some of the candidates seeking election to the Presidency in 2020.


EDITORIAL: With the election some 285 days away, it would seem there may be some inconvenient facts which will be exposed that adds critical information into the public domain for the electorate to read, prove and decide how they will vote. It will be interesting to see the struggle for some who will clearly see the rock and the hard place their ideologies and their favorite candidate have put them in. For some 3 years so many folks have vaunted their high moral ground by making inflammatory remarks, engaging in impeachment frenzy, in parading out every miniscule mistake or seeming mistake the man they believe stole the election -- while it appears living pretty much like the very man they have alleged with great disdain is the scourge of the world. While our President has lived a life unlike most of those who support him having lived out loud for decades in New York in a fairly flamboyant lifestyle with all the trappings, he has toned it way down since being sworn into office as President. His supporters know he is known for making what some call ‘shady’ business decisions before becoming president and many found his character assassinations of his 2016 Republican rivals very uncomfortable, unacceptable. And, that quality has not subsided since becoming President. He has refocused his ire toward a completely different batch of people from the ‘media’ and ‘entertainment’ personalities as well as some of his political opponents. But, interestingly, the first strike has always been the ones who ultimately wind up in his Twitter cross hairs. They hold up obscene images of him, make public announcements with vulgar and profane words about him, make editorial remarks as if they are in the know setting him in a most unbecoming and negative light and so much of America, who did not like it in 2016 has grown to understand there are many who just will not let his election go. Most of his supporters would never themselves behave like he does but you see and hear his rallies. They are fed up with being discounted and disregarded; tired of being called despicable names and accusing them of abysmal character traits, prejudices while demeaning their cultural traditions. President Trump becomes a sort of proxy voice for those who have far more grace and self-restraint to voice their thoughts. They need not. He has and as a consequence, together with many of the positive affects of his presidency they support this flawed man.


This book’s timing is incredible, and I suspect not coincidental. It may be picked up by those in the media who exhibit such contemptible behavior towards President Trump and if so it will likely be focused on the candidates they do not wish to be elected leaving out the information on the candidate they want.

Senate Phase of Impeachment


The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” -Article 2, Section 4 U.S Constitution.

January 21, 2020, the Senate is set to begin their role in an impeachment process designed to remove the 45th president of the United States, President Donald J. Trump. The actual authority for an impeachment process is set out in Article 2, Section 4, [above] and is quite clear what constitutes grounds for impeachment. Drawing your attention to this sort of plain – though a dichotomy too – language: “Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors”. The president must be found guilty, convicted, of treason, bribery -- plain; or other high crimes and misdemeanors.  -- Some ambiguity in order to be removed from office.

The two articles in the Senate for impeachment: ‘Abuse of Power’ and ‘Obstruction of Congress’. Sadly, in today’s culture, wisdom, common sense and logic have slipped through the figurative fingers of an affect driven polity. In place of the aforementioned wisdom etc., is the new big important decision maker and authority: FEELINGS, an emotive premise. This reduces everything to what little kids say all the time when things don’t go their way, ‘it’s not fair’. Right? Right! Instead of looking at all things rationally most today want short clips of news parsed out to meet the most common emotions, fairness and outrage, and if it does not deliver either one or both the dissonant jar to their emotions becomes intolerable. Hence, the two nonsensical articles handed to the Senate to try the president. Abuse of Power? The President of this country is generally referred to as the ‘most’ powerful man on earth. And, in this case, for the first time in 3 decades, it is appropriate to recognize this as factual. You might imagine to ‘abuse’ that power it must have been something really big. But did he actually abuse his power in requesting assistance from the Ukrainian Government in their investigation of their corruption. Did you know at least a billion dollars went missing given to them by our former administration? A billion taxpayer dollars? Don’t you think we should have some accounting?

The other charge ‘obstruction of congress’ boils down to certain key administration personnel, past and present, have been charged with ‘executive privilege’ and thus until the Court deems their privilege revocable, they cannot testify. Why privilege? This is a big NATIONAL political cum criminal [if the House has their way] case. But, while it is congressional it still is required to follow certain amendments of the Constitution, like the 6th Amendment: “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.” In  other words, a criminal defendant's right to an attorney is found in the Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.  It requires the "assistance of counsel" for the accused "in all criminal prosecutions." This means that a defendant has a constitutional right to be represented by an attorney during trial. In the case of client/attorney there is understood a ‘privilege’ where the attorney cannot be compelled to divulge his client’s conversations without the express and specific permission by the client. In the case of the President, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand you do not want the world to be informed of sensitive and strategic national security related information. Nor do you want the president’s own attorneys to be compelled to divulge their client’s conversations without the expressed and specific permission of and by the president. These matters too could be strategic as related to national security. It is doleful indeed that this administration is faced with an intolerable and unacceptable number of questionable individuals who have divulged [leaked] information with negative causal results both to our nation and our national security.  

Not a few citizens who watched the laborious House Committees Impeachment process found it a total bore. They trotted out people with clear biases against the president who manifested clear vehemence even in general conversation as well as testimony. The two leaders did not exercise their right to subpoena any of the individuals they felt were key to their case. Without actual treason, bribery or other high ‘crimes’ and ‘misdemeanors’ they created their own charges both of which could be found easily dismissed or found not guilty.

First, the Senate has to lay out and agree on the ground rules. The agreed upon rules will dictate how the Senate proceeds. Will they dismiss immediately as there were no acceptable charges? Will they call witnesses, witnesses the House hastily opted not to call so they could rush the process to its finale before Christmas break? Will they require one for one witness testimony vis-à-vis, they bring theirs the Senate bring theirs? Will they limit the time the Senate will allow the trial to last or will they let it run its course cutting into the 2020 presidential campaigns for those Senators running for president? Will the Senate leader hold his ground and keep the process as pure and close to constitutional process as can be?    

It all begins Tuesday, Jan 21, 2020, 287 days before the next presidential election.

Will YOU Go?



Perhaps the biggest statewide case of prying guns and rifles from the not so cold not so dead hands of citizens of Virginia, is now afoot. Monday, January 20, 2020, will find who knows how many thousands of protesters in front of the Virginia State Capitol regarding the State’s legislation to slow the roll of ‘semi-automatic’ weapons, big and small, owners currently possess and to seriously limit the ability to purchase any in the future.  This is a list of the current troublesome bills:

To be clear, the most troubling of all of these bills is SB 240 titled: “Firearms; removal from persons posing substantial risk; penalties.” Their ‘red flag’ law so to speak. Yet, the most fundamental issue with all of the laws comes back to these words: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

What part of SHALL NOT infringe do the Virginia Legislators not understand?

So, January 20, 2020, people will arrive with their beliefs, their ideals, their opinions, and their words – some to defend their Constitutional right to keep and bear arms; some to argue against the same; some there to just say Government is way too intrusive and enough is enough; some to posit the idea that the 10th Amendment empowers the state to create laws that are NOT enumerated to the federal government in the Constitution. As the second amendment of the US Constitution is clearly enumerated to the federal government is it really legal for any state to enact laws which clearly INFRINGE on the individual right to keep and bare arms.

As citizens gather on the 1/20/2020 it is everyone’s desire and hope the event will be absent violence of any kind by any person. And IF there should be violence it is good sense to wait until all the facts are in before laying any sort of blame, enacting any further drama to capitalize on any act of violence. In the end, the clear message even before this event is the person’s RIGHT to self defense against deadly force. Support of the portion  of our Declaration of Independence that reads:” We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness….” MUST always be vigilant. To lose the battle is to lose life – liberty – and any pursuit of happiness.
